CURRENCY : The local currency is the riel , about 4000 riel to the USD , however the USD is still used widely and you only need to have a small amount in Riel . ATM machines are plentiful , they dispense USD currency , and there are many banks established in Siem Reap . It is better to use money changers to change currency as the banks offer a much lower rate . Be sure to only accept USD banknotes that are in good condition , torn or damaged notes wont be accepted .
